Today is the 22nd March,2025
It is 01:04am
Today, I want to talk about love but from the perspective of Marriage
Please note, that at the time of this journal entry, I am speaking from my perspective of being married to my Eternal groom as this is the perfect standard of marriage and love that we must follow as believers.
First of,
WHAT IS MARRIAGE?
Marriage is an institution of Oneness ordained and ordered by God. It is the only institution established before the invasion of sin.
The standard is Christ and His love for His church.
In
Genesis 2:21-24,
“And the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; and the rib, which the LORD God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh.KJV
We see how this institution is established.
There are two aspects to marriage;
• Leaving
• Cleaving
To Leave ~ to depart from permanently, quit, exit from
To Cleave ~ stick fast to, be stuck to, adhere to, be attached to, bond to, cling to, stand by, abide by, be faithful to, remain true to.
It is these two activities that brings about oneness
And so,
Leaving + Cleaving = Oneness/One flesh
so, to be married,
You Leave ~ Family
Everything that pertaineth to you; your will, ambitions , mind, desires, thoughts
You Cleave ~ To your spouse
Everything that pertaineth to Him; His will, His wants, His ambition, His BEING
Cleaving = Man’s Love for wife + wife’s submission to husband
But then, you must understand that whether or not a man loves, you must submit anyway
And whether or not she submits, the man must love anyway
And Cleaving is a journey that goes on till the very end of your days in time!
In cleaving, you become one with Him.
So until you leave and cleave, you’re yet to be one with Him and you’re yet to be married to Him.
After Leaving, and in Cleaving, we see Oneness and in that oneness, we see companionship ~ Genesis 2;25;
“And THEY were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.” _KJV
Note, they were not just together; having each other’s company, they were unashamedly open to each other; hiding nothing ~ nothing at all, they were transparent before each other.
LETS TALK ABOUT THE WIFE
HELP MEET as referred to in Genesis 2:20;
“And Adam gave names to all cattle, and to the fowl of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for Adam there was not found an HELP MEET for him._KJV
Helpmeet ~ Companion, Partner
Helps, projects, motivates, uplifts and Promotes her Husband
• Her Primary duty is to Submit to Her husband - Ephesians 5:22-24
“Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and he is the saviour of the body. Therefore as the church is subject unto Christ, so let the wives be to their own husbands in every thing.”_KJV
She is led by Him, governed by Him -having her being In Him
Literally, without Him, she can do nothing
• She is to love her husband
Titus 2:4
“that they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,” _KJV
• She is to keep her home~
Titus 2:5
“to be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.”
KJV
Her home is wherever her husband is and so she must tend, dress and keep it as a garden assigned to her
I love to believe my home is my heart, my body is His dwelling place and so, I must guard it cautiously
The Love Against All Odds - the love you’re to give
To be married, one must make a conscious decision to love a kind of love I love to call a rare kind
I know we’re familiar with various kinds of love, but I’m certain the love involved In marriage might include almost all of it but then I’ll love to describe mine as thus;
. A love like that of Christ; bestowed upon a person, unmerited
1 John 3:1
“Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.” _KJV
- A love that keeps no record of wrongs
- A love that is kind
- A love that makes sacrifices
- A love that forbears
-A love; humble
1 Corinthians 13:4-8
“Charity suffereth long, and is kind; charity envieth not; charity vaunteth not itself, is not puffed up, doth not behave itself unseemly, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil; rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth in the truth; beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things. Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.” _KJV
• A love that covers a multitude of sins - Proverbs 10:12
“Hatred stirreth up strifes: But love covereth all sins.”_KJV
• A love that is intimate-
Proverbs 5:19
“Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; Let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; And be thou ravished always with her love.”_KJV
• A love that communicates truth- Ephesians 4:15
“but speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:”_KJV
• A love that is Fervent and pure
“Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:”_1 Peter 1:22 KJV
• A love that submits and can only be found where her groom is, a love wholly dependent on her groom
1 John 3:1-2
“Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not.
“Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.”_KJV
